Ajax pay tribute to Abdelhak Nouri as close friend scores Published on 4/30/2018

The Amsterdam Arena rose to applaud Abdelhak Nouri during their 3-0 win over AZ Alkmaar on Sunday (29th April), as close friend Donny van de Beek opened the scoring.

Ajax secured second place in the Dutch Eredivisie after defeating the only side who could overtake them, AZ Alkmaar, 3-0 on Sunday.

In the 34th minute, the stadium rose to applaud Abdelhak Nouri - shirt number 34 - the Ajax player who collapsed in a game last July and has been in a coma since.

And it was his close friend, Donny van de Beek who played with Nouri in a very successful Ajax under-16 youth team, who fittingly put Ajax in front.

The 21-year-old midfielder headed in after some neat play from Matthijs de Ligt on the right to make it 1-0 in the 38th minute.

Justin Kluivert and David Neres were also on the scoresheet in a comprehensive win.
